Adolescence  February 14, 2014 - February 28, 2014

You can submit three pieces, whether that be poetry, prose or script. The only condition is that you make it about adolescence - about the social ideology, the misconceptions, the turbulences, or anything of the like. I want to know what adolescence means to you, no matter what age you are.

I am going to base my decision of the winners for this contest purely on the writing itself - fonts, sizes, or any other fancy graphics or knick-knacks you have will not faze me. I find that, too often on this site, really amazing, great writers are overlooked because there is a stereotype amongst teenage writers to write something as horrible and cliché as "the monster doesn't live under the bed, but in your head", and so on and so forth. Horrible, unoriginal Tumblr poetry with line breaks every other word. A lot of this mundane and flat poetry often wins, because great writing has been lost in a blizzard and an ocean of angst and universal despair. By all means, write to me about your despair. But do it so that it hurts me more than you.

So, as I have aforementioned, I am looking for the great writers. The different ones, the one with a voice. The Internet has a lot of really bad poetry - this is your chance to be something more.
