Details

This is a contest for you to try your hand at submitting your best romantic sonnets of the "Petrarchan" tradition. If you need help, then GOOGLE it.

Anyhow, the italian sonnet has a rhyme scheme that is made up of an 8-line OCTAVE, which goes "abba-abba" and a 6-line SESTET, which follows with a pattern of either "cdecde" or "cdcdcd."

Because i am not as skilled a poet as many of the great romantics (like nihad) here at writerscafe and because i've been depressed for quite some time with no books to buy myself, i am offering a $25 borders gift card to the winning entry.

The contest will run for two weeks from July 3rd to July 17th, 2007. The winner will be notified through writerscafe and must provide address information as to where the prize shall be sent.

I am not responsible of course if you send me a wrong mailing address. The contest is open to everyone.

But please no copying from any ancient books, archaic scripts, or any other old a*s literature or from blogs. I can and will google any suspiciously plagiarized entries.

Funny and humorous submissions are also welcome, but please try to stay as MODERN or POST-MODERN as possible. Limit of 3 Sonnets per fake avatar.
