Chantalene Chofu  July 10, 2007 - July 25, 2007

A variation of the more traditional Chofu (with apologies to Steven Silvey... but imitation IS the sincerest form of flattery). Instead of 5-2-7-5-2-7, the last three lines reverse, giving it a nice sense of symmetry: 5-2-7-7-2-5.
Here is an example:

Summer Cold

Waiting patiently,
children
circle a flu-ridden Mom.
Suddenly, her eyes water...
"Chofu!"
They hand her tissues.

I'll give you 2 weeks to come up with your own, and since this is my first contest, I will decide who wins (if I can figure out how to do this), based on adherence to form, flow, and originality!
