West Virginia Writers And Poets at Play  March 7, 2009 - April 3, 2009

Finally! A new challenge for WV Writers and Poets. This challenge will begin March 8, 2009 and continue until March 31, 2009.

Writers--write a 100 word story using this prompt: "that happened a day or two ago, but the latest is that she has disappeared" (from Josephine the Singer or The Mouse Folk, Franz Kafka). You can use this prompt anyway you�d like, but please let readers know how you have used it (if it is not obvious).

Poets�using free verse, write a poem using this prompt: "welcome to these lines, there is a war on" (from Leonard Cohen, The Energy of Slaves � 1972). You can use this prompt any way you like (as long as it is free-verse). Titles are important, but don�t count for using the prompt�it must be somewhere in the body of your poem. Let the reader know where the prompt is if it is not obvious.

You can submit one story and one poem.

Awards are: Best Story, Best Poem; Best WV themed story; Best WV themed poem.
