EX#14: The Family Quilt

I know Emily already has a poem for this, but consider coming up with a whole new one. Write of what would be on your family's quilt. What would be the one image, or what would be the images on each square? If you want to add more depth, what fabric makes up some of those squares? Such as, denim from my father's overalls.

The big (literally) public example of this is the AIDS quilt, in which loved ones contribute a sqaure in memory of someone who died of AIDS. This is just an example, it does not have to be that serious.

Also, I would like to include a variety of exercises from the members of the group too. I realize I have certain interests, and so will tend to suggest certain subjects. So this is a solicitation for your ideas. At this point I would ask you send a message to me so I can post one a week, and you will be credited with it. This way, we will space them out at one per week. Pacing is important. I will add this to the group's description too, for any newcomers.

It might be nice to write something of the quilt pieces I see in trees and skies. I'll see what I can do with your latest challenge.

I tried to write a quilt, but ended up with carpet sqaures. Funny thing is, in writing as an exercise, I kept wanting to write a family guilt. And writing while distracted came up with a good line, If I could sew myself a quote, which I will have to use somewhere.
