The Shadow of Lovecraft Writing Contest

Weird fiction is a subgenre of speculative literature originating from the 19th and 20th century which focuses on exactly what it says: the weirdest things imaginable. This genre is based around the complete eschewment or drastical reinterpretation of traditional fantasy, sci-fi, and horror, to create a mood that truly feels otherworldly. Famous authors in this circle include Howard Phillips Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, Lord Dunsany, and a few others operating within the Gothic horror genre, such as Mary Shelley and Bram Stoker. Lovecraft was the most prominent author in this genre, and this competition aims to further uphold the literary tradition he created into the contemporary world.

If you are interested in this type of literature, submit your work of weird fiction into the The Shadow of Lovecraft Writing Contest here on Writers' Cafe and review what other people have put forth. Stories, poetry, and scripts are all acceptable formats. We as a community will vote on what the best piece is by the end of April. Although the works here are expected to be based in horror, your submission does not have to be, so long as it is most definitely weird.
