Live Chat ??
Live Chat ??1 Year Agoi wish there was an open chat feature. or a live comment section.
where we could interact directly with everyone in the group. back and forth in conversation. picking each other's brains. getting to know one another. {just a thought.} nice to meet you if you are new!! welcome to the show! |

Re: Live Chat ??1 Year AgoI cannot believe I am suggesting this but -- What about using other social platform to connect? Such as, Discord, Google chat, etc?

Re: Live Chat ??1 Year AgoOriginally posted by Stu. T.H. (Leon) I cannot believe I am suggesting this but -- What about using other social platform to connect? Such as, Discord, Google chat, etc? Hmm.... that might not be a terrible idea, but might be overwhelming too soon. I'm actually gonna look into this, and see what the best possible option would be. How funny would it be if we found a way to add that onto the site. Perhaps in the distant future, who knows. But for the time being, I'll look into various methods that might word best for everyone. Something simple and not too invasive, but a way to keep in touch with everyone in the group who wants to participate. |

Re: Live Chat ??1 Year Agoi agree with both.
instant response can be invasive. but also creative. i would suggest maybe a set time. once a month maybe. {no faces or cameras.} but a space we meet online. to chat instantly. like meeting for coffee. pick one another's brains. or share what we are working on. it doesn't need to be invasive. it can be optional. and each meet is a certain topic. that way. when the group grows. it's not a lot at once. {only who is interested on that topic.} just a thought. |

Re: Live Chat ??1 Year AgoI actually really like that idea, I'm cool with discord and I've used the platform before! Discord is a great way to remain anonymous and not have to provide emails or a phone number to join the group chat.

Re: Live Chat ??1 Year Agolooks like 2 votes for discord. i am down to try it as well.
now 3 votes thus far. maybe when we hit 20 members we create one?! {just an idea.} what do you think sir Kane? |

Re: Live Chat ??1 Year AgoI actually like the idea of a discord. I used it a long time ago, but didn't really use it more than a handful of times. But I do think that would probably be our best best. Easily accessible, anonymous for those wanting privacy, and it would be completely be up to those joining whether or not they wanted to be involved with the discord.
I will probably give it a little more time before I make it though. Just to see how things progress, and to see what works best for everyone. If there's any other ideas, I know we're open to hearing them. |

Re: Live Chat ??1 Year AgoIf we are going down the road of utilising Discord as a more direct means of communication for members in this group, so I wish to make some suggestions on some ground rules and formats on how we can safely operate the group:
1) There should be SFW and NSFW forums, for those who wish to discuss more sensitive topics or work in explicit nature. 2) In spite of rule (1), all members should still be sensitive and mindful when they intend to share jokes, topics, memes or other materials. 3) Please refrain from discussing personal matters (1:1 chat) or settling disputes in the general group chat for everyone to see, please refer to individual messaging when you wish to discuss personal matters with another member, if possible. 4) Please do not add people who are outside of Writers Cafe Social Hour to the digitalised group chat, without informing the admins (namely author Kane Hagwood) and receive a generalized public confirmation that you can do so. 5) Please do not disclose your personal and sensitive information to the public main lobby of the group chat. 6) Please do not make any financial, capital transaction or trade using our group chat as a means. 7) Please do not use unnecessary slurs, nor use any in our SFW forums. 8) Please respect other members' rights and privacy. Also, please don't spam chat. 9) Please, never bring the topic of political, or religious debates to our public group chat. Or if you or another member had, please do not let it escalate into something nasty. 10) Do not share misinformation, that is, if you do not have concrete evidence, source to back up an idea, please do not speak of it as fact. 11) Please keep all discussions and interactions between all those who partake in our group activities civil. That is all from me, thank you for reading. Signed, Leon. |

Re: Live Chat ??1 Year AgoOriginally posted by Stu. T.H. (Leon) I actually really like these, Leon. I'm gonna give myself a few days to figure out discord and get a run down for it. I may even reach out to a more tech inclined friend for more pointers on how to set things up the best possible way. Thanks for the suggestion Leon, I think these would be a good set of rules to work from.If we are going down the road of utilising Discord as a more direct means of communication for members in this group, so I wish to make some suggestions on some ground rules and formats on how we can safely operate the group: 1) There should be SFW and NSFW forums, for those who wish to discuss more sensitive topics or work in explicit nature. Re: Live Chat ??1 Year AgoFrom what I understand with Discord, once you create a group chat or a "Server" you would be given a "server link" which you can post and anyone who clicks on it and enter the Discord server. You could ask your friend how to do that, and message the link to all members of the group using the Writers Cafe email function

Re: Live Chat ??1 Year AgoOriginally posted by Aura From what I understand with Discord, once you create a group chat or a "Server" you would be given a "server link" which you can post and anyone who clicks on it and enter the Discord server. You could ask your friend how to do that, and message the link to all members of the group using the Writers Cafe email function I faintly remember that being a feature, but that is an amazing idea to get the link out there to people who want it. I may just keep it near the bottom of each message, just in case someone wants to join, with a little description of what the link is to. Thank you for that awesome advice, Aura! I still need to get in contact with my buddy (still juggling thing on my end) but here's hoping I can get a discord going for us folks who want to use it. |
