I'm Ben (see display name). I have an apartment and cat in Richmond, Kentucky where I'm working on two Master's Degrees, one in linguistics, the other in creative writing. Right now I work as a broadcast reporter which entails the creation and editing of news copy.

I write as often as I can, and will most likely put both "good" and "bad", "final" and "rough" drafts on my page here. I hope to the deity that someone offers suggestions to improve my writing. Please. Sometimes my self editor is a sonofabitch, sometimes I think it lays drunk for weeks at a time; either way, I'll post regularly whether my self editor has had a look at the piece or not.

Most of what I write is grounded in "reality". I like to speculate about human motivation and emotion in my writing, and I like for my writing to have some purpose other than escapism though that isn't always the case. I suppose there'll be a bit of everything to be had.
