Father

Father

A Poem by -Insertnamehere-
"

I've been having issues with my dad lately.

"
What happened
Did you lose the game
Did I lose the game, for you
What happened
Did it all blow up in your face
Maybe I should just come back later
Because I know you don't really want me here
Maybe now I can be a big girl, and say I love you
But father you didn't say anything back
So now I'm hating myself
Because father you didn't know anything else
So now I'm hating myself
Because father you didn't lend me your help
I just cried on your doorstep to someone else
Because you made me hate, myself
Did I do something wrong
To make you not want to listen
And now I'm feeling guilty
Because you're my father and I'm your baby
But fathers don't hurt their daughters
And father you hurt me bad
And now I'm hating myself
Because father you didn't love anyone but yourself.

How very sad. There is a hint of subtle anger in the lines, almost as if behind the despair is a fighter trying to emerge and demand the love she must have had all along.

My favorite lines:
Maybe now I can be a big girl, and say I love you
But father you didn't say anything back

This is touching Zoe.
Keep writing dear,
Alex

I don't think that I've ever felt so affected by your poetry before. This one is truly amazing. I honestly started to cry while reading this. I'm sorry for the pain you must have in your life, and the issues you've had to deal with. I feel like we all have some problem with our parents at some point in our life. And you have clearly been open about it. Ms.Zoe you are a beautiful, talented young lady. And don't let any one tell you other wise :)

Great piece. Extremely easy to relate to. The last line wraps it all up nicely, and the repetition is very effective.

Nice job.

This is really good. I can definitely relate, but with my mother. Very well written. I can feel the sense of childlike abandonment while reading it. Nicely written.

This was...very true. I can relate. This is a beauitful peice of work Zoe. Your really good at showing emotions in a very un-obvious way. :] I loved this peice, but when do I not like your writing? XD

This is a write full of pain.
Though this write is pretty unhappy I look at it as a positive thing.
You took the conflicts with your father and turned it into great poetry.
I too have father troubles and it's really no fun.
Keep your head up.
