The Blessed Damned

The Blessed Damned

A Poem by Maria Linden
"

Something short I wrote as a protest poem for my freshie English class. I actually worked hard on it, and I'm curious to know what people think it's about.

"
Frost thought Hell might pool in ice
Dante's nine-circled fame
Kings, they hoped with hopeless hearts
Rolled the dice on wings, and lost the game.

The dark crusade, offering
Daydreams to the dying and the damned
While he looks on with loveless eyes
How far down softened throats can dreams be slammed?

And when the masses scream for lords
They never mind the leader's traits
So far gone the crowds have crying called
To care with whom they've twined their yearning fates.

I know it's a little overdone, but I needed allusion and a bunch of literary devices so:)
PLEASE review!!

I think this is excellent, not overdone at all. This is going into my library. Well penned my friend.

Beautifully on-point.

Unfortunately, it is ,and may always be, relevant to "civilization" in its' myriad manifestations.

It deserves to be re-read.
