Walls

Walls

A Poem by 1Disawsum

The walls I've built when I was young,
Have now only gone higher, and higher still,
I'm the living proof, of society gone wrong.

In the process I've only gotten weaker,
The words don't ricochet off the walls like
They all say.

The walls have turned to stone,
Broken and cracked from the bullets, words.
The wall has taken years to build, and to this day, unfinished.

They say don't talk to people like me, they'll only bring you down.
What they all say is true, but nobody cares to know why.
There's no reason in denying the facts, they'll prove to be true.

But what society doesn't see, is that under the words that have
Buried us ten feet deep, is that we are all broken in our own little ways,
We all have flaws, but we are only broken into bits by human words and actions.

The way we live reflects the way we act, our kindness is only given to us,
By the kindest people in this world. Our personality reflects the way we grew up,
The events and incidents that have built us up, to be our true selves.

The next time I see the people whose words have helped me build this
High stone wall, shielding me away from my dreams and society, I'll be wondering
What there life was like, before they turned into this monster they now show.

Because we never had the right to judge, we only have the right to question.
