Unholy sacrifice

Unholy sacrifice

A Poem by Royal Martinez
"

A bloom cut before its prime. The type of crime which no doubt has been committed on hundreds if not millions of occasions in some form or the other, since human inception.

"
       Acne-scarred grimace

Raggedy backpack, dirt-stained sneakers.

Countenance of an anime junkie

Carriage of a laptop hacker, with creature-features drawn from window-less views and the pent-up mayhem fermenting within them

        This Frankenstein-like mind,

Traverses the world alongside simpler folk who giggle at pimples,

And a supposed harshness of enforced celibacy

In the most promiscuous time of every age

Page torn directly from Jack’s psyche,

The stark epiphany of a world bludgeoned by monotony.

Maniacally perusing the myriad faces within the arsenal

He assumes the leer and enters a nondescript, black-painted iron gate, holding a parcel

Tomorrow an elderly lady will begin to worry.

Tomorrow prayers will be said in the rectory

Tomorrow a matron will see blood on the door of the sacristy

Tomorrow Jack will be both fantasy and reality

Tomorrow could be Armageddon,

Yet it’d be late by today's standard!
