"What'cha doin', Dad?"

"Writing, son. I have three books making the rounds; maybe I'll sell something."

Timmy retreated to his room and began scribbling in his notebook. He was eight years old, and wanted to be a writer like his dad. When he finished, he stuffed the pages into an envelop and gave it to his father. Larry Yardley, on a lark, mailed the pages to a publisher.

A month later, father and son sat in the same room, Timmy scribbling best-sellers on paper and Larry staring dejectedly at the computer screen.

Trying to show a sometime frustration of aspiring writers. Did I capture the feeling?
