Future shining

Pieces of what is and what might be

I feel the future shining on my past
My present is just a smudge on a cast
Of my broken heart and drowning dreams
I got rejuvenated when I got a glimpse
Of what it could be and how it could be
I feel the future shining on my past
Float in a vast universe first or maybe last
Lost and maybe that's what it takes
To find oneself treasures of the mind and soul
Goal post constantly shifting
My hope constantly lifting
My aim constantly drifting
My pen constantly sleeping
My shot lately been dipping

The future is shining
Or maybe hope I am, I don't know
All I know is I feel the future shining
The future shining on my past
