Mirror of Life

Mirror of Life

A Poem by Stuart Watson
"

A poem about a person looking at a reflection and how they see themselves as they grow old.

"

There in the mirror I saw a face
I once knew
now time and life had taken its toll.
The marks and lines of age no more a few.

A face that once looked fresh and young
Now with all that that life threw at it
It was so many years when life begun.
Those darkened eyes with bags underneath
The saggy skin with a set of false teeth.

The greying hairs on my head,
I now needed glasses and help in and out of bed.
I now walk at a much slower pace
I was never much good in a three legged race.
Their were times when young I turned many a head
With my wit, charm and charisma,
Anyway that's what was said.

I could play a tune, sing and dance
But now this body of mine doesn't stand a chance.
Oh well that's what life's all about
So when I see that face staring back at me
In that mirror of mine
I can say I've had a good life and everything's fine.
