Chasing Dreams

Chasing Dreams

A Poem by Devayani Reddi
"

An issue that has haunted me for a long time...

"

Once in life we stand at a precipice

A point of no return

Scared to venture in to the abyss

We break down and mourn

The choices we made in the distant past

And events well beyond reconstruction

Some mistakes that will persistently last

In memories upon which we wish destruction.

So we carry this weight upon our shoulders

And peer into the bottomless chasm

We see clear rivulets but we also see boulders

Then apprehension overpowers enthusiasm.

But despair not and widen your ken

For you will see there is something beyond the mist

A passion that hangs gleaming in the glen

Waiting to be consumed with a fire you cannot resist.

So step forth brave warrior, and carry on till the end

Though in this journey there may come many an obstruction

You can choose the road less taken, my friend

To chase the dream, not the competition.
