Barrie

A Poem by Megan
"

He was very sorry. "I say, Wendy," he whispered to her, "always if you see me forgetting you, just keep saying 'I'm Wendy,' and then I'll remember."

"
He would come up with
mermaid scales still sticking to him
Running in circles, boy-ish grin

Curly hair and glimmering eyes
Enough to make a woman remember
What it was like to be a child

Stealing their precious kisses
Hidden in the corner of their mouths
That their husbands forget all about

Sunsets and thrown-away shadows
Red skins, without peace pipe on the war path
Nothing but stories to make the boys laugh

Pirates with a vengeance
Tick tock goes the crock clock
Poor Smee and Hook it mocks

Clap your hands if you believe
Old fairy tales and thieves
That love to steal you and me

Oh and those goodnights
Without the lamplights
to keep away Neverland
