It's Been A While

It's Been A While

A Poem by C.

It's been a while since I've seen your face
It's been a while since I've cried myself to sleep
But sometimes in the darkness, I think of you
And all the secrets I'm forced to keep

It's been a while since I've heard your voice
It's been a while since you've phoned
Am I someone you've just forgotten
Or am I someone you've just postponed

I don't know if I care anymore
I don't know if I can
All those nights you hurt me
I should've known, I should've ran
Before it got worse
Before you became my hell
Before all the lies
I should've said farewell

It's been a while since I've seen you
It's been a while since I've wanted to
Because you don't care much about me
It's been a while since you've wanted to

It's been a while since I've been back
Just a few months, feels like years
Everything's changed now, don't you see
And I'm not going to shed anymore tears

Because I don't think I care anymore
I don't know if I can
All those nights you hurt me
I should've known, I should've ran
Before it got worse
Before you became my hell
Before all the lies
I should've said farewell

It's been a while since I've seen you
I think I've forgotten your face
All your features, once so unique
Have just become commonplace

It's been a while since I've heard your voice
I think I've forgotten the sound of it
Everything you ever spoke to me
Always made me feel like s**t

And I know I don't care anymore
I don't know if I can
All those nights you hurt me
I should've known, I should've ran
Before it got worse
Before you became my hell
Before all the lies
I should've said farewell
