Midnight Rendezvous

Midnight Rendezvous

A Poem by C.

i have roots like trees

but you have roots like weeds

you taste like gasoline

on my lips

and i can’t take your fingertips

like razor blades on my velvet skin

but still i sink in

to you

farther into you

you make me feel deranged

no air in my lungs remains

everything around me begins to freeze

but your skin like fire sets me alive

i take the air from your lungs

you moan through our tongues

i know this will haunt me

but i don’t want you to stop

we’re waltzing

in bed sheets, dark blue

midnight rendezvous

we’re the same all at once

our hearts firing like machine guns

your eyes like blue stars

caress my skin so slow

every thought turns pianissimo

midnight comes and goes

i know this will haunt me

but i don’t want you to stop

we’re waltzing

in bed sheets, dark blue

midnight rendezvous

The words felt like a Leonard Cohen song. Tempting and needed.
"i know this will haunt me
but i don’t want you to stop
we’re waltzing
in bed sheets, dark blue
midnight rendezvous"
Those midnight dances become sweet place to remember. I liked the above lines a lot and thank you for the excellent poetry.
