Someday, I believe that feeling shall return to me

When this time of half-life passes me by

And the bitterness I held deep within me

Fades away completely

My fingers will once again relish the feel of silken sheets

And the gentle hush of a dandelion beneath my touch

The delicate scent of dawn and of a just-bloomed rose--

--Oh, how I wish I could perceive!

My tongue longs for the taste of honey and chocolate;

Berries and cream, and my love’s forgotten kiss…

If I listen hard enough, I can still hear the faint echo

Of his faerie song that is no longer there

I do regret this obliviousness, this ignorance

That I have brought upon myself

It brings desperate tears to my eyes

That they just can’t see the joy and hope

In things once seen as beautiful

But alas I shall remain so senseless,

Until I learn to know beauty again…

…With my heart, and not my body.
