The guns sing

The guns sing

A Poem by kenya smith
"

War is hell

"
It has been 60 days
since I've been in this trench
There are many dead men, besides me
One man is giving off an eerie stare
Everybody has stopped firing,their weapons
for now,anyways
Day 61,there are men
going to the no-man land
We are getting ready to fire our weapons
at our opponents
The sounds of gunfire are deafening
The screams of those in pain
are just as bad
It has been 12 hours now
12 hours of blood-curdling screams
and the loud booming sound of guns
I am covered in my fallen brothers' blood
Along with my tears
The guns,start to sing again
as others,reload their weapons
As for me, I'm crying over my fallen comrades
These guns will sing forever
I thought in my head
There will be a lot of blood
screams in pain
amputations and death
Even when you think, the war will be over
The guns will sing forever.
