Still, I fight

Still, I fight

A Poem by kenya smith
"

War is hell

"
I was wounded at my calf
I'm in excruciating pain, but still, I fight
I won't let the bullet wound, get to me
I am deaf, from the sound of gun shots
I can hardly hear the screams
 of those who are hurt

It has been five hours now
 Some people's guns
 are still singing
while I'm looking for more bullets
It's very muddy in this trench and very bloody

I've lost the feeling in my leg
 but still, I fight
I might get my leg amputated
 but still, I fight
Another bullet went into my arm
It's bleeding heavily and in deep pain
I feel dizzy from the blood loss
 But still, I fight

My right leg and right arm are gone
I have to spend my life, in a wheelchair
 But still, I fight
For my fallen and unfallen comrades
 In future wars to come
I won't go down this easily
 I will, still, fight
 I will protect this nation
