I sit here by my keyboard,
Thinking what I have to say.
My memory now flashes back
To just the other day.
I had held you close to me,
Our bodies we did share.
Neither said I love you,
But neither really cared.
We had shared each other,
As so often lover's do.
It was something special,
For me but not for you.
I guess there was that problem,
Of the heart that clouds the mind.
I meant nothing more to you,
I, another toy that you did find.
You showed me your Picasso,
Your Da Vinci and Renoir.
Trying to enlighten me,
That you have come so far.
Always walked ahead of me
But never by my side.
Said you always told the truth.
Inside you knew it was a lie.
You try and feed your ego,
To conquest with out shame.
There are many that you hurt
Some will never be same.
For me I found out quickly,
Though enamored by your charm.
I knew what was coming,
So it did not do much harm.
A Knight in Shiny Armor,
Is what I thought I be.
Some times slightly tarnished,
But always what you see.
You my dear are different.
Though a pleasure to behold.
Something that's inside of you,
That grows so very cold.
Must have been something,
I believe maybe in your past.
Warmth no longer radiates,
Your cold just seems to last.
I tried to find a portal,
Directly to your heart.
I was doomed to failure,
Tell right from the start.
Now the joust is over,
My armor still in tact.
Though a little tarnished,
It's shining will come back.
I do want to tell you though
Before my final words are through.
My heart will be forever warm,
For I've seen what cold has done to you.
