MYSTERIERS THAT LIE AHEAD

MYSTERIERS THAT LIE AHEAD

A Poem by DONALD EISSLER
"

PONDERING THE PAST

"

Sitting by the fire place

Pondering the past.

Reading old love letters

Wondering why it didn’t last.

Words of love so simply put

Seemed to glow in every word.

Saying that you cared for me,

What feelings they had stirred.

Little hearts with arrows

Enclosed both our names.

Every letter always ended

With “Love you . Hope you feel the same.”

Hours spent on the phone,

Sometime even twice a day

Each captivating each other

With every word we’d say.

Don’t know what really happened

Just seemed to sneak up gradually.

Those letters once sighed with love

Both signed now with only “Me

The time we spend on phone

Words no longer had a flow.

Ending words “I love you”

Now end “sorry I have to go.”

Hard to understand just why

What we had no longer is.

Guess in both our minds

It will be unsolved quiz.

So now another chapter

In our life has now been read

But there is much more to writen

About the mysteries that lie ahead.
