It's only you

It's only you

A Poem by Aaron Bedding

I would always watch you sleeping dreaming
The only time your mind was at peace
It was only when you woke that the world became real
Your head would be sore and full of regrets but the wine was never to blame
You were so beautiful even more beautiful than the night before
The room was always cold
I will never forget the smell of the bed linen
The dressing table cluttered with empty bottles
The mountains of clothes and shoes were never ending
Beauty came easy to you though no effort needed
It was hard to leave those moments and even harder to leave you behind
That smile those eyes the room it was ours only for a short time but ours
There's only ever been you
I'll spend my days searching for those feelings knowing they will never be found
I feel alive in my memories and look forward to dreaming
It's only ever going to be you
