Madness.

Madness.

A Poem by Abeer Tarek

"I drowned in the darkness of cold water, I drowned in the depths of your despair, I forgot what love was until I remembered poetry, I forgot what happiness was until I remembered madness; a beauty which I drowned in, which I craved and swallowed, where only darkness conquers and souls overcome.

Don't light me up, I'm deep and depth is soulful, depth is brown eyes that have seen pain, depth is my hollowed heart feeling torn and empty, and depth is my soul smelling delicious, and my being is beyond your understanding.

I love but I learned to breathe, I love but I knew when to leave, it's hard for me to forget, it needs power and strength that only madness can possess.

I forget what sanity is, with you I remember love, hatred, despair, hope, strength, weakness, heaven, hell, and pain. Pain that broke me apart but managed to wake me up, pain that I hated then craved.

I have won life by being mad, but I have lost you in return, I did mind at first but then I remembered if I ever loved someone without them sharing my madness then why bother loving? why bear pain? I would rather bear rejection, I would rather bear solitudinous that is filled with joy.

I caused a decent amount of trouble but why would I live if I didn't? why would I deserve life if I were perfect? and why would I be human if I didn't fail? why would I write if I remembered love without poetry?

I could go, you know. I could drown alone, I could be mad alone, I could write alone, I could forgive and forget alone, I could be joyful alone, I won't mind; but I thought I'd drown in weakness alone but from now on I choose not, I choose to drown in madness, I choose to drown in darkness and I choose to drown in vast galaxies where stars, colors, darkness, vacuum and eyes exist, because eyes are galaxies, and I choose them over sanity."

I really enjoyed this and felt my own connection with your words which is cool and what you want with something written like this with so much depth. It reminded me of a very crazy time in my life when a relationship failed because of my crazy way of thinking back then. Really great! Thanks for sharing :)

Your crazy! Very cool writing. Thanks for posting it to the group! I really felt the madness in this poem. It was chaotic and repetitive but intended to be that way I'm sure. Really glad you shared.

I like this! I think a lot of people relate to the idea of wanting to choose madness and make others notice them.

I can feel the sanity leave your body in this stanza. I reckon we weren't meant to be sane - else we'd all come with a standardized emotional range. I liked it. Keep writing.

Every poet is just another person who lost out on love, one who felt the thorns before they could touch the rose. A life without love is vacant at the core, but at least you can save yourself whom the turbulent tide that is love. Well written.

This is really beautiful and something different. "I love but I learned to breathe, I love but I knew when to leave, it's hard for me to forget, it needs power and strength that only madness can possess." amazing!
I think love really changes your life until you decide to love forever....
