Nice Guys

Nice Guys

A Poem by Abhishek Ram
"

A testament to those guys who have gone through this.

"

My parents raised me to be a good man:

"You'll be loved by everyone" they said,

I guess being nice is just a rock in pure sand,

Because, guess what, only the vast majority is seen.

Treat girls well? Be chivalrous? Don't they wish.

As if they'll appreciate you if you wash every dish,

Truth hurts, doesn't it? They don't care for nice guys,

Maybe nice guys do finish last, by the by.

All they want are jerks who treat them like crap,

Not some beautiful, open, and really nice sap,

They say they want one, and then they don't.

Why do they say they do when they won't?

Apparently nice guys do finish last.

Apparently jerks do have a blast.

Apparently nice guys do get aghast.

Because apparently, nice guys do finish last.

Call me a sexist pig, I don't care.

Threaten to ruin my life, I'm not scared,

You have a problem with me? That's unfair,

Since it's my heart you broke, my life you left bare.

The once nice guy you knew is now a jerk,

And now for one to bring him back, he lurks,

To bring him to what he had been before,

And to treat him the way he wants and more.

I loved you once, I may never again,

Because betrayal ruins, so its ordained,

Never, ever put this on me once more,

Remember, God is the one who keeps the score.

This is a game, you and I are the players,

Your cheating is heard in my prayers,

One day, you will lose and I will be the winner,

I will be the delivered and you will be the sinner,

Because I will be the one to run to His hands,

I'll be so fast,

And maybe then, you'll see, not all nice guys finish last.

Although solely speaking of the plight of guys, I also recognize that girls go through a struggle as bad as that I chose to write about. This was purely inspiration and I'm not trying to insinuate anything.
