American Oscar RighteousA Story by Abishai100A willful immigrant thespian becomes an Oscar-nominated 'star' for his performance as a street-basketball culture prodigy/coach but must find a 'true' highness.
A personally rewarding adaptation (fanfiction!) of one of my personal fave-films of all-time, The Oscar (Stephen Boyd). Enjoy,
----
==== Amlan Satan was prepared for his work as a newcomer Hollywood actor after immigrating to the post-9/11 era American Homeland from Algiers in 2023 but had hoped his performance as a 'struggling' but aspiring basketball of 'street-lore' in the United States (and eventual coach!) would create the right cinema-industry 'tone' to cast him as a worthy 'celebrity' in this invention-age of commerce/media life and traffic image and social-media culture 'friendly' head-masters (wow). CRITIC: "This newcomer from Algiers has offered us a rather 'collected' screen-image of the composition of 'ethnic' sportsmanship and the street-basketball lore surrounding/concerning the challenging American Dream with this rather sensitive and somewhat (ironically!) human-touch portrayal of an Asian-Latino mulatto whose offbeat prodigy-gifts at shooting/defense/coaching makes him a post-9/11 era Homeland 'god' of raisins (if only for a 'short-time' for social-media culture following/fanfare/hyperbole!)." Well, needless to say, the 'prince' (and he was indeed a prince, from Algiers, who brought with him to the United States a 'brain' full of fortune-dreams and inherited moneys for investment and cinema-industry boasts for auditions/networking/sponsorship/recruitment) of Hollywood had become an overnight 'sensation' for this human-touch portrayal of ethnic-daydreams and basketball-relevance for post-9/11 era Homeland street superstitions of ambition and community securities, dealing with inner-city drugs/diamonds and finding a shocking niche for coaching as well as team-captaincy/athletics which would bring out some pronounced social-media culture commentary concerning that 'American' feeling of welcomed ambitions. INTERVIEW: Did you feel this movie-work catches that modern tone of daydreams? SATAN: I was fortunate to be considered for the Oscar; basketball is beautiful/magical. INTERVIEW: Well, there's talk that many like to compare you to a 'mod' Omar Sharif. SATAN: That's excellence; however, I prefer the 'street-wise' works of Elia Kazan. INTERVIEW: How'd your own 'study' in basketball inform your incredible work? SATAN: My portrayal of the 'sports-prodigy' in the Homeland came with basketball. INTERVIEW: Meaning? SATAN: I enjoyed watching college-games on TV from Algiers; this was a bridge. INTERVIEW: What if you win? SATAN: I'll buy a video-recording of an iconic college-basketball game (of course!). INTERIVIEW: If you lose? SATAN: I'll write a 'cool' cyber-tale about sportsmanship-envy in this new age (ha). Well, the only person the prince revealed his inner-demons about that American Dream yearning to catch that Oscar-prize in Hollywood was his housekeeper/maid (Esmerelda) to whom he whispered, "If I win this trophy, Ezzy, I'll marry you (ha).' HOLLYWOOD REPORTER: "Oscars-night affords many images of excellence and world-activity and cultures splendor this year, and among the great nominees are the newcomer/prodigy Amlan Satan for his basketball-magic performance in cinema and old-time legend James Dan for his shocking and revealing portrayal of an Irish poet caught in the crossfire of undesirable/inventive Euro-tribulations (wow)." INTERVIEW: Are you disappointed you lost, Amlan? SATAN: Nah...Dan deserved the Oscar for his Irish potrayal of lost innocence! INTERVIEW: You mentioned if you lost, you'd write a basketball-tale online? SATAN: Indeed; I just might do that; I don't regret appearing at Oscars-night though. INTERVIEW: You looked very dashing (if casual) on Oscar-night, Mr. Satan. SATAN: I was a 'celebrity' for a moment; and I shared thoughts with sports-fans (ha). Amlan married Esmerelda (regardless) and would remember (forever) his time in the lights of Hollywood for his 'prodigy-portrayal' of a human-touch sportsmanship daydream in the challenging Homeland inner-city of post-9/11 era street-superstitions psychology, and it can be said this prince from afar had somehow (ironically!) found a human-touch of romance/magic despite failing to grab that ultimate 'prize' of the American lore --- the Oscar.
