Tempest

Tempest

A Poem by AbsintheandBlood

Collisions redeem us

Or throw us into the mouth

Of the tempest

Through the radio static

Trans-dimensional speech

A single voice

May collide

With this reality

Electric scriptures

Pulsate in encryption

Millions of years

Bound up in a riddle

Conduits and gates

To the parallel world

A warning……..high voltage

Or mental oblivion

Delusions slip in through the window

Intrusions of the dream

The flowers of the valley

Scorched by a fire beheld

In thought and smoke hidden……

Obscure light

A solar cataclysm

Veiled in news media mastery

Of subliminal persuasion

A face everyone remembers

Speaks to you

With a propaganda tongue

Signals of untruth

Foul the atmosphere

Kingdoms sleep in banknotes

New religions of pills

Reveal to us the depth

Of the hologram

If that’s all it is

If that’s all it was

Are we someone else’s……..

Amphetamine thought

With moonlight poured upon us

From a pale dominion of the desolate

We were crowded in the cabin;
Not a soul would dare to sleep:
It was midnight on the waters,
And a storm was on the deep.
’Tis a fearful thing in winter
To be shattered by the blast,
And to hear the rattling trumpet
Thunder, “Cut away the mast!”

So we shuddered there in silence,
For the stoutest held his breath,
While the hungry sea was roaring,
And the breakers threatened death.

And as thus we sat in darkness,
Each one busy in his prayers,
“We are lost!” the captain shouted,
As he staggered down the stairs.

But his little daughter whispered,
As she took his icy hand,
“Isn’t God upon the ocean,
Just the same as on the land?”

Then we kissed the little maiden,
And we spoke in better cheer;
And we anchored safe in harbor
When the morn was shining clear.
