The Girl With the Broken Heart

The Girl With the Broken Heart

A Poem by Abzi

With the dark night sky above her head,
And her thin, tender lips aglow with red,
With her silken robes now torn to shreds,
A young, fair maiden lightly treads,
With hair so soft and brown and long,
She follows the whispers of a broken song,
Sodden in tears and rain and sweat,
Her heart, full of sadness and lonesome regret,
Traipsing the path with cold bare feet,
Down a hill laden with grass and wheat,
To a destination which no one knows,
The girl with the broken heart slowly goes.
