Rotted

Rotted

A Poem by Correspondence

Once I believed I was hollow
Inside and out
I'd look at all the others
So perfect and poise
I'd bet
If you ripped them open
All you'd find is green
A sickening goodness
From inside and out
And when I saw my insides
I expected to see nothing
Empty
And instead
My core was rotted
Black

Jealous of others not worthy of you. Be who you are. Unique, yourself and true and good. Far from rotten or bad. Heartfelt and so sincere

And a good poet, you speak from the heart.
It’s a painful reality that much of what limits us in our lives is our own feelings of unworthiness and self-hatred. Your wordplay brings a sting of pain to the stanza format – and – brings home to the reader this self-critical thought process... sad but poignant write - :-)

Very interesting write! I think if we look deep within there can be a blackness for all of us. Since we can't see inside each other it is easy to think it isn't there. I can relate to this. Descriptive and very good work. Well done.
