What's left

What's left

A Poem by Agonizing Clarity
"

Collateral Pain

"
Agonizing clarity is
being ripped from
your family
cast into the darkness
encased in the clutches of
foster care

You grow up, not knowing
how to get out
because the streets are all you know
And you also dream
of better things

Like a room to stay in for more than a month
Or not staying up at night
worried about tomorrow
because as a kid in CPS
tomorrow promises nothing

Agonizing Clarity is
Looking in the mirror
seeing a stranger
a face that isn't your ow

A face transformed by grief
Sculpted by tragedy
and glazed over like glass

Agonizing Clarity is when
your old friends don't
recognize your voice
anymore

because the tears and the smoke
got caught in your lungs
and lingers

You never know where you'll go next
or when: You just know it's soon
So you don't unpack

You know things change so fast on the streets
So you never leave the house
without the necessitates
whether it be photographs
money, or jewelry

You learn to hide your emotion behind a mask
of calm so you never give anyone the power to hurt you
You never let 'em see
how much it hurt
to be passed from home to home
not meaning to push them away but
you always do
in the end

In the end
Agonizing Clarity
is all you have left.

Dark and powerful , have I told you I am already addicted to your word

The beautify is that you can take the reader so easily into your world , you tell a story , most hard story and makes me want to come and hold you , paint a smile on your face and tell you , you can smile
