A Poem by Alan Mark Maynes

Our interstellar neighborhood has an interesting past
I swim throughout the cosmic ocean that is so vast
From black matter to incredible amounts of mass
To an enormous pinwheel of clouds with dust and gas
From elements to compounds
From silence to raging sounds
From existence to evolving
There is time travel and worlds that are revolving
Supernovas exploding
Mountains are formed and some are eroding
A cold, deep, dark universe
To an exotic place we call earth
Starting at birth and ending with a grave
I surf around the sun, and ride the blasting wave
Internal fires, countless stars
Our early earth use to be what we now call mars
Floods of pure energy
From absolute zero to heats that are immensity
Mixture and compounds that fuse together
A distant space we cannot measure
From the vacuum of space to an intense pressure
Molecules and cells evolving into inhabitable life
A mysterious place growing with strife
Dim and bright lights that are projective
Gazing at the universe from a different perspective
