A Loved One

A Loved One

A Poem by Carol

With the broken glass

We mourn you.

With the shattered hearts

We wait.

With the bullets from your bottles,

And the mess to be cleaned,

We sweep away the ashes you left behind.

Tired of the blind feelings,

Of not knowing what’s to come,

We weep for your lost soul.

With her love robbed from your body

And your life stolen from your eyes,

You prayed.

Wishing for her again.

And so we say goodbye

To you and your beloved.

Sending our love to your fleeting spirit

Screaming your name in our cries,

Yelling prayers up to the heavens.

Missing your beautiful eyes,

And you missing her glorious lips.

I whisper “love me” into the night

Hoping that somehow you might hear.
