Across the Bridge

Across the Bridge

Across the bridge, we walk alone
Leaving behind, a life now mourned
Friends and family left to wonder
What comes next, is better for us

Pain and suffering, now are gone
Across the bridge, we walk alone
Out of the darkness, into light
All now peaceful, we feel no strife

Family and friends, slightly fading
Towards a new life we are making
Across the bridge, we walk alone
Toward the light, we keep moving on

All our loved ones, far behind us
Feeling laughter, love and kindness
We venture closer, fear now gone
Across the bridge, we walk alone

Across the bridge, we walk alone

Sometimes we have to do things alone, don't we? Your poem is melancholy and beautiful.
