Life is Far From Simple

Life is Far From Simple

A Poem by Analgesia

Theres a beggar on the street

cold and blistered frost bitten feet

he's old and twisted with gnarled teeth

But deep down there's story underneeath

A gambling addiction?

hunger for perscriptions?

hard time conviction?

And over and over there it is

Life and complexity never underestimate this

strife, life, so flexible in means and ends

Like trees in a hurricane it bends us

makes straw houses of our poor plans

charred skeleton homes and water over dams

Blunted boar headed beasts

and we pretend to be priests

Give our nostradomas predictions

with grave and knowing inflections

Barely scratching the surface of the well

our cups runneth down the hill carrying a pail

And Jack and Jill

And you and I

Will never know why

We don't know why.

This poem is complex. it is a topic most don't want to think about but one we all should. I love how you started out with the homeless man giving a detailed description of him. Great example to start with and then carry your poem on from there. This is an amazingly written poem.

I've settle into a routine: I'll stew in my own words for a few months, then, when there's been enough rumination I'll dispatch some sort of half cocked pile of context riddled with pretension and lov.. more..
