The Fourteenth

The Fourteenth

A Poem by Allen Smuckler
"

The heart is ever so fragile...be careful, handle with care- ars

"

My heart is like a fervent candle shrine,

hoping you will someday, somehow be mine;

short and sweet and thoughts like a neon sign,

inner beauty and outer warmth divine;

 your kindness and tenderness so benign,

the light you radiate ‘comes a design;

the hope you give me will never decline;

if you, Sunshine, will be my valentine.

For a 19 year old you were non-cheesily romantic! Gosh, where did you learn to write like that for a yearly occassion?? And the image of the shore alone gives the lines a deeper, bluer shade of warmth and sincerity. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work. Keep writing! *sighhhhh* : ))

I have read a lot of Allen`s writing. He not only writes good poetry but also fine autobiographical material that I like very much. This is a good poem from a young poet, written with class and talent.
