The Weeping Angel

The Weeping Angel

A Poem by AlphaDelta

I've never seen an angel cry
but there's one in front of me.
Head in his hands, back turned away,
Weeping out to the sea.

The lightning flashes and with a sob
He lifts his tear-struck face.
"I'm here on Earth forever now.
I've fallen out of grace."

His shattered wings are black and blue
And tremble as he cries.
"I know it doesn't help you much
but at least you are alive."

I slowly step towards him
Hand in front of me.
"I know it isn't Heaven, but
there's worse places you could be

Than here on Earth, to be alive
To feel what humans feel.
The joy, the pain, anger and love
are what makes this whole life real."

He doesn't talk, but doesn't cry
And we sit in silence a while.
The pouring rain wipes away tears
Till he throws me a sad smile.

Pain in his eyes, he look at me
and puts his hand in mine.
"Is it alright if I sit with you
and take some of your time?"

So I hold his hand, give a gentle kiss
We watch the crashing sea.
Wind whipping round and rain pouring down.
But we're quietly at peace.

This poem has a good rhythm, story, and rhyme. I liked it. On a fun note, I thought of John Travolta in his role as an angel in the movie Michael. My favorite scene is where he dances to a juke box song, Chain of Fools. Your poem was more thoughtful, of course, than the movie.

A very nicely rendered narrative piece here. I guess a fallen angel would feel depressed. Of course, it didn't seem to faze Lucifer that much. After all, he was able to start his own business.
