Show Biz

Show Biz

A Poem by Alpris

I yawn.

This man

wastes

the

stage

swears, spits

and

sprays away

the willing

flies
on
the
walls

boo! get off the stage!

and on she comes
overlaps
him
he leaves
and she
heaves
a hearty
introduction.
far out...
I sip
but instead of wine
-grapes tangled

in
vines
of
ethanol-
I taste
carefully
churned
caramel
cream

of the crop, she is
no doubt
no doubt in my mind, man
she's dancing them
melodic feet
across woodbound floors
and breaking them necks

of the unaware
audience folk
they will never know, aye
that woman
is a flower in perfected play
she closes her
blood-tipped
curtains at night
and by dew time
they open

for show business

she dances

her melodic feet

across woodbound floors

I want a lot for ten bucks

more than I bargained for

she moves, aye...

she moves me
