Ever Feel

Ever Feel

A Poem by Sarah K Cass
"

A poem from my teenage years

"
Did you ever feel
lonely and lost,
ever fall in love …
then, pay the cost?

Did the light stop shining
at the end of your road;
was the weight on your shoulders
a far too heavy load?

Did you stumble, did you fall
on that bumpy road called fate;
ever felt like crying or like dying,
from the the sting of bitter hate!?

Have you ever felt a razor blade
could have solved all your guilt,
that had arisen slowly …
gradually deep within you built?

Did it ever feel like
you were dead inside,
and someone you once loved
hurt you when they lied?

Were the tears never-ending,
did they fall like rain:
did they ease the heartbreak,
and erase your killing pain?

But, when your rain stopped falling,
did the dark clouds clear away;
did the light start shining
on the dawn of a new day?

Once, I felt like this
(my heart buried 'neath the snow),
but I've now realised, we are women.
We don't die … we grow!

Hi, Sarah 🌼
I really took to this one from your early years … even then your pen shined with bright promise.
One can perceive the creative bent of your imagination, along with the knack of using metaphor for imagery, not to mention a feel for spot-on rhyme and line-break timing, et al.
I may have buffed a couple of powdery spots, but this one had all the bones of a fine work … thank you for the credit and honorable mention.
Particularly interesting, is the manner in which you take us on a stirring poetical mental and emotional tour of your up and down growing experiences and involvements … quite charming and captivating, really, not to mention eye-opening.

You turned out to be quite a lady, and just look how excellent a writer you've become from all you've been through and learned … a big, warm hug of thanks for sharing You! ⁓ Richard 🍃

Dear Amber, this is poetry and true words.
"Once, I felt like this

The above lines. So wonderful and true. Kind women are the teacher of love, soldier of life and the balance of our world. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Interesting piece from your youthful days. Says a lot about teenage angst but thankfully ends on an upbeat (if somewhat sexist) note!

It's ok. I didn't take it in a harsh way.
No pain, no gain. We do indeed grow stronger as a result of our hurts. Nicely conveyed lines Amber. I could feel the emotion in your poetry.
