Stroke of Love

Stroke of Love

A Poem by Amitesh Rout

With a bag of nerves I stood at the stop
New to the city yet ready to hop
My eyes rambled to canvass the streets
But soon lost and appealed in a petulant blase

I tapped my watch in a nonchalant gaze
Averse to stick around all by myself
Popeyed by the sudden twist of fate
A lady in red arrived to shower her grace

The wind whistled past me
And hit her straight in the face
As she raised her hand to tame her curls
I fell in love Once again

My legs froze in this ignorant breeze
Either for the cold or for the eternal bliss
From the corner of her eyes when she gave a glance
My mind was wiped of any possible stance

I was reuniting with my shadow
On an unworthy street
I smiled and smiled as I landed in pain
Because I knew I was in love Once again
