Downfall

Downfall

A Poem by A. Amos
"

Fall and rise are part of life, few give up yet some learn and stand tall...

"

Downfall

All dream-destinies for a better tomorrow

Turn ideas into reality, huge loans they borrow

Troubles knock everyone’s door, you’re not alone

Look around, feel unheard cries; World…full of sorrow

When success comes and hits life
everyone is utterly on different skies
even those whom we never knew, are close
Time seems frozen, life turns as a beautiful red rose

Life can throw you in smoldering hell
all the doors clogged, no path left to dwell
Sitting petrified, bitter memories with prosaic soul
world tarnished, money vanished, no one to propel

Deep, dark thoughts running in our minds
Sometimes find a way to abolish your soul
To the misery stuck on you, nothing left for fight
Was this the reason we touched opulent heights

Everyone hates, blame, curses, enjoy abusing you
Even your own self in its own way, is annoyed too
Magic of life is going back in time, watching movies
Often sad, some fun and few packed with glories

How can the world disregard, wondrous histories we made

myriad lives we touched, flaming sun we provided shades
We only thought to make the world better place
Now they look at us with abhorrence, our hard work has fade

Yesterday squandering millions, today not a single penny
damn felt blessed with her presence, first one left was Jenny
Tensions start pummeling brain, merely luxury left was smoking

Lifestyle revolutionized so swiftly, strange mystery left provoking

99% of life is painted with poignant tales
1% of life brings us magic of feeling
ecstatic
consider failure God’s wish, accept without malice
Downfall an eradicator, its life's we’ve to gracefully face

It’s not only you, history is full of characters

One day they were king, next in vagrant’s attire

Treasures are left where they belong

All they took with them was their dirty desires

Destiny is not a fickle thing... What is weak is man's ability to understand it. We can lose ourselves, stepping backwards into the rapid-moving river of fate, and be lashed by emotions on the way, and then drown in circumstances beyond our control. But despite this, there's value in human determination. You've touched on many things in this poem, friend, but these themes are what stood out for me. Keep writing.

Thank you Audrie...
Wow that about summed up how the world is going right now. I totally agree with that minus a point or two but I believe that we are a falling people with disaster knocking down our doorsteps and invading our freedom. Those books we read about a corrupt government is coming true. Divergent and Hunger Games just might be our doom. I sure hope we all know how to run fast. This was well written and flowed so beautifully!

It's alright.
I loved hearing someone else say, "They love to be alone to think," this fits me perfectly - As to your poem "Downfall" - I agree with this totally, the writer is expressing life in general and many times we're on top and then we suddenly find ourselves out in the "cold." Your voice in this poem allows a reader to know the sincerity for which you are speaking - life doesn't offer a permanent pot of gold - in life we all suffer hardships but the greatest of it all is to succeed after the fall. God didn't promise everything to be perfect in a human life, hardships equal rewards./BKSmith

I love the emotion in this poem. It gives some credence to the quote 'today's blessing is tomorrow's torment'. Though, a bit pessimistic, I was impressed with the words you used--tomorrow, borrow, sorrow. Good usage. I'm not a poet, but I do love to read it. :)

The most hard-hitting thing about this poem is the wreckage it causes amongst my own perceptions and my own romanticism and the childish perceptions we carry with us into a more mature and logical stage in life. What you face in this poem is a hard thing to acknowledge - full of a dark cynicism and a distasteful truth. It is one, however, that we need to face. It is an important truth. The lines that really hit me the hardest were:

Sitting petrified, bitter memories with prosaic soul
world tarnished, money vanished, no one to propel

These lines, for me, convey the hardest thing you touched on. The isolation, resentment and agony of humanity. It was a hard thing to read, it's true. It's a truth you shouldn't tell children - but it's the truth, and you told it beautifully.
