In Love With A Stranger

In Love With A Stranger

A Poem by Amy J

I’m in love with a stranger, an ordinary man,

I’m in love with the tender, firm grip of his hands,

I’m in love with his eyes, lost in his thoughts,

I’m in love with his silence, a world between words,

I’m in love with his nose, resting against mine,

I’m in love with his breathe steady, in time.

I’m in love with the pause he leaves between kisses,

The way he draws me in, holds me and listens.

I’m in love with his fingertips, walking down my back,

I’m in love with arms, strong when relaxed,

I’m in love with his chest, firm beneath my ear,

I’m in love with his heartbeat, teasing me nearer,

I’m in love with the idea, he’s mine but forbidden,

I’m in love with his world, shared but never given,

I’m in love with a stranger, I barely even know,

I’m in love with a stranger. I’m scared to let him go.

Mine but forbidden? And a stranger? Tread softly; you may be on dangerous ground.
