"And Now The Glaciers Melt..."

"And Now The Glaciers Melt..."

A Poem by Chris
"

A Thursday Thought again

"

“And Now The Glaciers Melt…”

I remember Mission beach at sunsets…

...and Virginia Beach... Beaufort,

the Atlantic City boardwalk…

and a world of other places - other times…

Norwegian fjords,

Rotterdam quays,

Rhodes, Cigle, Istanbul

Japan, England, Portugal…

Hands I’ve held

and those I couldn’t,

wishes and kisses -

given and taken.

H’lo’s and goodbyes,

People...mindshots of captured breaths

and so many, many faces.

All the sounds I missed and those I couldn’t.

I’ve lived and died by inches -

the hurts so deep God cried…

love so deep - I cried…

and days I made a difference.

Chris

There's a haunting sensitivity to this work that makes it special. Very well done.

Thank you for that... and for the pause.
last words sometimes express a lifetime ..
Last two lines ..my favorites
If I am allowed to pick favorites ..?

Last night I remembered a young woman
That didn't want to live..
And a very old woman who's last words were
"I want more"...

Moments in and out of lives .. forevers and afters
that survived..

Cold and warm thoughts that melt hearts .. and remind of love and love, and love..

Thank you Chris... Jazz

I have read it several times... both silently and aloud.. as you taught us to do.. a stunning epitaph for one who is still making a difference..

'People...mindshots of captured breaths .. '

Such a bittersweet and moving poem .. memories and moments brought to mind that have probably never really disappeared; lying just beneath the breath between moments. Those last two stanzas have made me sad yet, they speak and hold so exquisitely.
