"17 Syllables..."

"17 Syllables..."

A Poem by Chris
"

Two-for-one

"
"17 Syllables..."

I think it's the eyes
that give it away - yes, ...yes,
it is in the eyes.

Flecks and swirls ...that glow...
the way I couldn't breathe ...move...
and then ...gawd, she smiled.

Ever find your rainbow?
...right then ...right there... just like that!
Living, breathing ...light...

...and then... the eyes... pass.
They weren't looking for ...at... you ...
THAT look ...look...swept...past.

I tasted midnight
and the salt sea spray ...again,
and empty moonlight.

Dreams catch up with you
long, long after you let go
...and hurt just as much.

two for one - remember? The italicized stands alone as the now... the other four were the "then" - and the six together make a statement... and yet each senryu speaks for itself.

Your poems do express so beautifully, I enjoyed reading this, the fleeting moment that passed by when she looked at me.

Amazing use of words and thoughts. The amazing words dance on the page. This would be amazing verbal poetry. The word strong and alive. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

You should try the square experiment...make it 289. I have achieved it and I see you doing it too...

It's like your standing on the Outer Banks in the middle of a moonlit night. I think you accomplished your aim here...to make us imagine, sir.

Even though you have heard this many times, you, sir, are a fabulous poet; this was excellent!

Those eyes were lost in thought
They will forever miss the glimpse they didn't know was there

I miss your voice... The girls ok?
She or rather her eyes worked their magic on the character didn't they and I enjoyed the ride along with the vivid description she left upon your minds eyes. The appearance of her eyes braced upon your tongue a marvelous diamond stutter, translating the effects through you pen. Really marvelous.

Sometimes when one petrify, the other move, it's the law of gravity somehow... ;) the then, and the now... winking there. Me is chuckling here Chris. All out of good heart, because you are a rich mind, and always fuel on what was, and power it to what "is". Oh and then that change, perfect, as only one true feeler can bring such.... I do miss your ink, always. And I try to be here as often as I can sweet friend. Another breathtaking one.
