"17 Syllables..."

"17 Syllables..."

A Poem by Chris
"

Two-for-one

"
"17 Syllables..."

I think it's the eyes
that give it away - yes, ...yes,
it is in the eyes.

Flecks and swirls ...that glow...
the way I couldn't breathe ...move...
and then ...gawd, she smiled.

Ever find your rainbow?
...right then ...right there... just like that!
Living, breathing ...light...

...and then... the eyes... pass.
They weren't looking for ...at... you ...
THAT look ...look...swept...past.

I tasted midnight
and the salt sea spray ...again,
and empty moonlight.

Dreams catch up with you
long, long after you let go
...and hurt just as much.

Feel free

two for one - remember? The italicized stands alone as the now... the other four were the "then" - and the six together make a statement... and yet each senryu speaks for itself.

only the ones that will never come true.. the ones that we have finally let go of.. some of them have claw marks..

This is a brilliant poem. And so much emotion, I am sure any woman wishes it was for her ...

ask time and again
is my bare longing sinful
capture raw moments

the smell, the touch, the....
oh, i can't..... i simply must
enjoy this fierce lust

lost again in thought
...... happy, joyous, playful me ...
the mood takes me now

alone.. yet with you
wonder if you are aware
each breath comes from you

Those rainbows, we can see all the colors
They seem close enough to touch
But they fade into forever thoughts

Flecks and swirls ...that glow...
the way I couldn't breathe ...move...
and then ...gawd, she smiled.

My heart favored these lines
Smiles can change a moment, a day, a lifetime
Given and received ..remembered even in twilight years

Maybe some Looks were for us, if not we can design a reality inside dreams
And no one can rob us there .. we are free to touch and free to be loved
I've watched Old women smile, and carry on with lovers past..or imagined
Who knows .. they found the one that got away .. and they smiled and smiled
In such happy ways ..

Well done Chris ... perfection .. heartfelt and true

Very clever Chris, but you always leave an impact on your page.

I tasted midnight
and the salt sea spray ...again,
and empty moonlight.

Adore that senryu~

imagining those eyes are for me, that look! and then she passes and i realize it was only "my imagination, running away with me"---

but there was that moment...and that itself is a memory.
