"Are You ...Here?..."

"Are You ...Here?..."

A Poem by Chris
"

Think on it BEFORE you answer facetiously just what I asked...

"

“Are You …Here?...”

Too many People define listening by

- their own heart's bleating

- their own laughter, their own tears

- their own needs, wants, dreams and desires

- their own fears

Listening is less-self

and more-aware.

Life is the crowd that takes us

shapes us, masks us

‘til we hide from our selves

using the noise and distractions

and the seeming belonging - all

to think we’re being PART OF

than what we have.

Comes a time life envelops us

tightens and tightens …happens,

squeezes and presses until

masks fall away

and often - frightened eyes glisten

and widen and freak and

unfocus and fade and wither

as the mind within - can't deal

with their now.

But …but… sometimes, eyes - so aware

so very, very aware - touch,

focus, lock... and the mind really

…really… understands

...being noticed.

And then what begins?

Where do dreams start and realities fade?

Are you here watching

from the pixels as

my fingertips wander my lip's whispers

of thoughts felt within?

I do hear our echoes

and feel voices' shimmers

of moments remembered

and targeted pauses

whose tastes and smiles

were my silly lil reaches

made toward starlight

as silent nights wove

fingertips' wish-full dreams.

“Are You …Here?…”

I’ve an image behind my eyes

Head just so -

soft, glistening, aware eyes

warm face - framed

by flowing hinted-at highlights

whose strands weave and dance

while lips - just parted with life’s curve -

teasingly moist… draw… me.

Breathes...

Oh, this is somewhat on similar lines to something I wrote recently...but your work seems to have closure while mine doesn't. I wonder if people really want life to squeeze off their masks...and what would happen if no pair of aware-eyes are there to watch us when we finally remove them?

How often we look, but perhaps do not really see. For some, self absorption can last a lifetime, but then sometimes
'eyes - so aware so very, very aware - touch, focus, lock... and the mind really …really… understands
...being noticed. '

Perhaps it is only then that dream and reality will come together in perfect harmony and the mask be discarded.

Beccy.

I want to say "...perhaps..." but...
So she told me that she might lose the curse of condescension if I found the blessing of condensation. Thus I discovered that listening might not be the art form I took it to be. Polonius, the fool with at least one good line. I think listening is really about time or the speed of time. Let us say we wait a minute for a kiss and that the kiss lasts a minute. Which is the longer minute? Looking back I mean.

After that just makes me want to look ahead! Chuckling here...
Chris this was so tender and romantic , you know I give it a 100! when you breathe the whole world breathes with you! Here , there and everywhere. Actually I ask that every night to the muse inside my head, I say are you here? can you hear me?

when the mask comes off, will we want to show our face? we the real person we are be one we want to show?
are we really listening to others? do we really care or are we so self-absorbed that the only listening we do is to our own wants and needs...

if we are really aware of others, our life will be much more fulfilled, we will listen, but we will also be heard.

anytime, you are always welcome to pause...
A socially responsible question Chris.
The poetry is eloquent.
The philosophy is impeccable.
The experience is humbling.
Your vision is inspirational.
To answer the question, yes, but not as often as I would prefer for my character's growth.
Thank you for sharing your very fine write.
