"Tis Always The Season..."

We were once the same children that cry today

and WE cried for the same reasons as they do now…

Being cold hasn’t changed, and hunger still hurts.

Always seeing what they haven’t

and being told what they can’t.

Heads held down because homeless isn’t just a stateless mind…

its every time they left everything behind

…til even tomorrows

are just more …todays…

Children FEAR what we feared and feel as WE felt -

And mommas still cry and daddies go away.

And we ALL needed Teddy Bears to have and hug…

And we taught ourselves how to really pray -

the prayers that MEANT something to us

because they WERE ABOUT each   of   us...

Some of us got to grow up

and some of us have got to grow up

and some…well, they’ll never grow

and are only memories’ tears shed over and over again.

Remember YOUR stars and what you prayed for -

and help the little ones touch theirs as only you can,

and maybe - just maybe - the fears will lessen

and we can really look to heaven …and smile.

So true, times change, fashions change, but sadly some things stay the same. If we can each do our bit to make life a bit better for the next generation, then at least we'e achieved something. A very touching and thoughtful piece!

Your writing touches me Chris! How easily we turn our heads away from the pain. I see this pain in my practice every day. Sometimes the world forgets as they get caught up in the material focus of the session. Warm beds and full bellies are wishes come true.

I'll be glad to and thanks for pausing with me.
I agree my friend.

I pray daily for peace and calm. Where all children are safe and sound.

'and some…well, they’ll never grow
and are only memories’ tears shed over and over again.'

One day perhaps sanity will prevail; until then I can only trust in Luke 18:16.

Sometimes I hate this f****** world.

and what Christmas should really be filling adults at least with thoughts of. We did teach ourselves how to really pray....as will children who suffer. A heartfelt piece that makes me swell with something other then 'presents'...maybe presence.

there is something about christmas i both love and hate...

the goodwill and peace on earth are beautiful...on the eve and the day...but where is it the rest of the time...gone..

"tis the season" yes, and should always be the season...

your words always stir something deep within.

I guess we can forgive the masters if they do not hold their inspirations to four lines and a few words... Ha. :)
WE are all children for ever and always... for we are all growing and have as much to learn and look forward to as any infant born.

A fine bit of philosophy Chris. I enjoyed the read.
