"Breathing On Demand..."

"Breathing On Demand..."

A Poem by Chris
"

Some more thoughts

"
"Breathing On Demand..."

When you're just near
- I listen to my heart beat stuttering

and feel  every breath in lungs too tight .

...And then you paused - spoke...

"My hands got so chill, clammy.
and I froze
rooted
dumb - its like I almost know what to say
and then
and then - damn
... you looked
at me
into me
and I couldn't turn
or move
and I can't
can't think
can't move
can't speak...
I'm so frozen, afraid -
afraid you'll notice
me - and how I'm not -
not much of anything really
...
nothing at all special or worth your notice

or touch
or smile...
and if you did
DID
notice me
I'ld die...
I'ld -I'ld just be in heaven
I wouldn't know how to stop smiling
to NOT smile
to NOT FLOAT
- into tomorrow -
to not breathe ever again
without feeling the press of your hand in mine
your fingertips brushing my cheek
without dreaming of your lips
and the presence of YOU
in my life.

Please... please stay?
Please..
."

"Uh, uh... its just around the corner -
and to the right."

That attraction, that anticipation, and hoping someone
you noticed would notice you back...how we all have been
breathless at one time or the other.

this is that 'not worthy' feeling you get when you fall in love. You are unparalleled in your ability to put emotions into words. Stunning!

This definately moved me. This is exactly how I felt when I first met my boyfriend. The words you used and the way you put them in this poem made my heart change pace with the most intese or the less intese part of this writing. I give you thumbs up!!!!

the Rite Aid Store? The Grocery, why oh! why did she pick me to ask directions of? Maybe because she already saw her direction in you, appreciation, everybody wants appreciated, want others to KNOW the beauty in their hearts even if they still are not sure of it themselves...complete innocence (even in the mature) is a thing of beauty...you exude beauty....

Whew .. for one to merely speak .. and cause such physical change .. "smitten" by all those thoughts of another, looking into YOU ... ..

Real .. and kinda soft and sweet ... Jazz

Brilliant. Lovely flow of thoughts, self talk. Beautifully portrayed, Chris. You breathe life into the page.
