I am the nerd of the class

But sit in the back

and answer questions that no one seems to know

 

When I raise my hand,

I take command

of a class that sits around and plays dumb

 

Few are engaged

My desk is a stage

And I seem to be the lead in this role

 

When the prof picks me,

they listen as I speak

But it’s not enough for them to see

 

That independence is key

We need it to breathe
